STRMISKA CROWNED 2003 SRL CHAMPION

WILTON, California -- Nearly 200 Drivers, Owners, Crews, Family, and Friends attended Davey Hamiltons SRL Wild West Shootout awards banquet Saturday November 22nd at the Elk Horn Country Club in Stockton. The top 15 drivers in the championship race were recognized for their achievements, as nearly $23,000 was given away.

Ron Strmiska Jr. from Manteca, California was crowned as the series 2003 Champion. Strmiska finished the season with three wins. Two of those victories came at Stockton99 Speedway, while the other took place at Altamont Raceway Park.

Finishing second in the 2003 series standings was Ryan Foster. Foster finished the season on a very strong note, with three top three finishes in the final three races of the 2003 season. Ryan Foster was also crowned the 2003 SRL Rookie of the year. Ryan scored two wins in the 2003 season. His first victory came on Madera Speedways 1/3 mile track, while his second victory of 2003 took place on Stockton 99s � mile track.

After an up and down season in the SRL, 2002 series champion Jeff Anthony rebounded to finish third in the final point standings. Anthony finished the year with three wins to his credit. All three of his victories came on Altamont Raceway Parks fast half mile track. Jeff also set fast time two different times in the 2003 season. He set fast time at Stockton on July 7th and at Altamont on August 2nd.

Finishing fourth in the final point standings was Joey Zampa from Napa, California. Joey finished the season with two second place finishes. He finished second at the season opening event at Altamont, and also finished second at Madera on August 23rd.

Rounding out the top five was rookie of the year contender Mike Doss. After a slow season start, Doss was able to turn his season around as he finished second in the final race of the 2003 season at Altamont. Mike Doss was runner-up in the rookie of the year standings to Ryan Foster.

Tracy Bolin from Valley Springs, California finished in the sixth position overall. Tracys best finish of the season was a third at Stockton99 on September 13th. Bolin was also in the tight rookie of the year battle, finishing third behind Foster and Doss.

Tim Stratmeyer finished seventh in the 2003 final point standings. Stratmeyers best finish came at the season opening event at Altamont Raceway Park. Stratmeyer was able to finish tenth or better in the final four events of the 2003 season.

After missing one event in the middle of the year, Rick Ruzbarsky of Tracy, California was able to finish eight in the final point standings. The 2002 rookie of the year had two third place finishes this season at Altamont Raceway Park.

Finishing ninth in the final point standings was fellow Tracy racer David Philpott. Philpott won at Madera Speedway on August 9th. Philpott finished the 2003 season with one win, and three top five finishes.

Finishing tenth is Jeff Belletto from Salida, California. Belletto came real close to winning twice during the 2003 season. Belletto finished second to Ryan Foster on September 13th at Stockton99, and third at Madera on August 9th.

Series Champion Ron Strmiska Jr. won the Five Star Stock Car Body from Chris Carli and Finishline Racing Equipment. Jeff Anthony also won a 25% off of a purchase of a new Five Start Stock Car Body. Ron Strmiska Jr. was also awarded with a 2003 Champion Helmet from Impact Racing. Impact Racing also gave away shoes and gloves.
