ATLANTA RACE AN “AWESOME LEARNING EXPERIENCE” FOR LYNCH

Hampton, GA. --Scott Lynch went to school at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Saturday’s EasyCare 200 and when the checkers flew he had earned a 25th place finish and a solid “A” for effort.

Competing in just his sixth Craftsman Truck Series race, Lynch turned his first laps at the 1.54-mile speedway during Friday’s morning practice session and he quickly found out how tricky AMS can be with so many racing grooves to choose from. Veteran crew chief Charlie Wilson relied on his own experience to tutor his young driver while Lynch set about learning the nuances of one of the fastest tracks on the Craftsman Truck Series circuit.

Even though he lost two laps to the leaders over the course of the 130-lap race, Lynch learned his lessons well. He was successfully able to protect the tires and fenders on his No. 62 Orleans Racing Dodge and was listed as running at the finish in 25th position.

“It was pretty awesome,” a pumped Scott Lynch said after the 200-mile event. “It was a good deal, we learned a lot and hope we can carry that on to Texas.”

Asked about his experience on the fast Atlanta motor Speedway Lynch replied, “We went from loose to tight. In the end we buttoned down and just drove it. The longer we ran the better we could go.

“We’d be searching around through the middle (lane),” added Lynch. “Then sometimes the middle wouldn’t work and we went up high. Then we’d bring it back down to the bottom if that didn’t work.”

Lynch concluded that his weekend in Atlanta “was an awesome learning experience for me.”####
