RINGERS GLOVES CIRCLE TRACK REPORTMoorpark, Calif. -- With only four races to go in the Chase for the Nextel Cup, two of the three Ringers team of Penske Racing South are still in the hunt for the championship.

Ryan Newman, protected with UnderX by Ringers, finished 10th in the Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, moving him to third in Chase points, only 63 points behind points leader Tony Stewart.

His fellow teammate and Chase contender, Rusty Wallace, had a good top-10 run going until a spin late in the race put him out of a top-10 finish. Wallace recorded a 19th place finish, but did move up one spot in Chase points to sixth.

Their teammate, Travis Kvapil, also was searching for a top-10 finish and looked to be well on his way, until he spun in the closing laps of the Subway 500, resulting in a 21st place finish.

The Nextel Cup Series heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) also took to the half mile track of Martinsville Speedway over the weekend in the Kroger 200 on Saturday.

The Ringers team of Orleans Racing announced earlier in the week the release of driver Steve Park. They were going to park the No. 62 Orleans Dodge, until Scott Lynch brought some capital to the table to keep the truck running the last two races. Unfortunately, a suspension problem ended Lynch’s efforts early and he took a 30th place finish.

Brendan Gaughan and his No. 77 Jasper Engines & Transmissions Dodge completed all the 200 laps in 24th.

Billy Ballew Motorsports, another Ringers team in the Truck Series, had Cup regular Kyle Busch in the truck on Saturday and posted a fifth place finish.

UnderX by Ringers supporter Tracy Hines brought his No. 13 ThorSport Racing Chevrolet home in 17th place after starting 22nd.

The NCTS also heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200.

The NASCAR Busch Series raced in the city that is home to Elvis on Saturday in the Sam’s Town 250.

Two drivers protected with UnderX by Ringers posted top 10 finishes.

The driver to come to the checkers first was J.J. Yeley in second place and Paul Menard brought his No. 11 Menards Chevrolet home in sixth.

The Busch Series has this weekend off and returns to action at Texas Motor Speedway in the O’Reilly Challenge on November 5.
