LOVEROCK GEARS UP FOR PHOENIXNASCAR AUTOZONE ELITE DIVISION, SOUTHWEST SERIES
Date: 10/21/2005
![]() Super Late Model stand out, Brandon Loverock, is headed for Phoenix to run the AZ Lottery 125 in the Autozone Elite Southwest Series November 10th. Loverock has been to Phoenix many times in the past but this will be his first chance to hit the track in his family owned Tour car. With many Super Late Model races under his belt at Irwindale Speedway, Mesa Marin and The Bullring, it has been one of Brandon’s goals to run a Tour race at the famed mile racetrack. Along with his Dad, Frank Loverock, Brandon decided to skip the last few Super Late Model races at Irwindale anticipating Phoenix could be in his future. During that time off from Super Late Model racing, Brandon and his crew decided to thoroughly go over the car from top to bottom. With the feeling that they may have found what had plagued them all season long in the Super Late Model, Brandon decided to run the 200-lap finale at Irwindale Speedway. Turned out to be a good decision as Loverock qualified fifth and led the first 100 laps of the race. “That was definitely a win for us. We had such a horrible year; I am glad we could come out here and prove we belong up front. For myself, my dad and my crew, this was very gratifying and put some spring back in our step” Loverock stated. The AZ Lottery 125 will be Loverock’s third race in the Elite Southwest Series. Last time Loverock competed in the series was at the Irwindale race in 2004 in which he led the first 74 laps of the event. With two previous starts under his belt Loverock enters the AZ Lottery 125 with two Top Tens in the series and hopes to match those efforts at Phoenix. “Realistically I don’t know what kind of chance we have going into Phoenix. The biggest tracks I have raced at are Irwindale and Bakersfield, both half miles. At the present moment I am trying to get in on a test date so I get as many laps as possible under my belt before race day. I am confident we can and will gain some good experience at Phoenix and I am definitely shooting for a good run. As far as where we might finish? We could run in the back all day or we could run up front all day. It’s a crapshoot. A top 10 would be great for the team but I will happy coming out of Phoenix with the experience on a mile track and the seat time.” Loverock said.
