| For those of you that are not already aware, Sandi Davis passed away in Reno, NV, this past Friday, May 27th. At the time of her passing, Sandi was 63 years of age and had been the driving force behind Davis Motors Speed Parts for the past 35 years. She, her husband, Richard "Rich," and their son, "Richie," moved their racers' supply business up to the Reno area from San Jose a number of years ago.
Early in January of this year, Sandi had, what was first thought to be, a stoke and was rushed to a local hospital in Reno. There, it was determined that Sandi had three brain tumors. Surgeons removed the largest of the malignant tumors and began to treat the two remaining growths with radiation and chemotherapy. Sandi spend 16 days in the Intensive Care Unit and, in all, a total of 62 days in the hospital.
During that time, she developed blood clots in her lungs. When she was strong enough, Rich and Richie took her home, where she spent the past three months in familiar surroundings. Late last month, the local (Reno) hospice group began helping with her in-home care. Rich and Richie were with her when she peacefully passed away this past Friday morning at home.
Memorial services for Roberta "Sandi" Davis are scheduled in Reno on Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the afternoon. The service will be conducted at "The Church," a non-denominational house of worship located at 1205 No. McCarran Blvd. (just off Highway 395) in Reno. Immediately following the service, the Davis family will host an open house and barbecue at their home, 7320 Estates Road, Reno, NV 89506. In lieu of flowers, the Davis family requests memorial donations in Sandi's name to your favorite charity. The Davis family will be sending out a formal email notification of Sandi's passing in the near future. In the meantime, please feel free to forward this message to their many friends.
